Crescent Beach 08
Morning fog over the Hood Canal Bridge.
Duncan and Cathy at Crescent Beach
Weather is calm, no wind with only a mild swell making it interesting.
Cathy seems to enjoy it.
The rugged coastline between Crescent Beach and Freshwater bay is mostly sea cliffs with tiny pocket beaches.
Cathy catches a rainbow.
Cormorants drying themselves.
Duncan explores a sea cave.
Narrow passages between rocks can be challening when combined with the swell. These two, in their 'plastic' boats, are not as concerned about hitting the rocks as I am.
Bull kelp and a sandy sea floor. Looks almost tropical.
More ruggedness.
An octopus! Sadly, this one has expired. This was a big sucker!
I'm loving my new greenland paddle.
Sea enemy, as I like to call it.
Caught in the bull kelp.
Rainbow at Freshwater Bay.
Myself, Laura, Geoff and Duncan
At camp, it is time to party.
First course, Ducan grills up some Mackeral.
The second course is a little tricky over a campfire...
...a roasted goose!
The drinking commenses.... (take it easy, Josh!)
Cathy, Duncan, Geoff and Laura huddle to keep warm. It is afterall, camping in November.
Next morning, Crescent Beach has some surf.
Lot of layers here.
Everyone departs in the morning, leaving Duncan and I to check out the surfing. Here, Duncan is setting up.
Nice ride.
