2009 Coastal Clean-up at Shi Shi Beach

Off to a rough start... 10-15 knot winds with 8-9' swell.	Geoff starting to disappear in the swell.	The NDK Romanys handled the rough seas beautifully as did Duncan's Perception Aquaterra.	The waves were breaking all around forcing us to paddle out to sea to avoid them.	Shi Shi Beach at Sunset.
The first night's dinner included a rib roast courtesy of Duncan.	Next morning we were greeted by thundering surf. Fortunately we were not paddling this day.	I took a brief walk through the Point of Arches that morning.	Sea Stacks...	...and Shoals
Lucy, Steve and Mike in the midst of preparing breakfast.	Time to start clearing the beach of debris. I past these two along the way with their load.	My paltry load. I recall it being quite a heavy burden to carry.	Tidepools at the north end of Shi Shi.	Brian and Steve relax after an afternoon of garbage collecting.
This is beach cove, north of Shi Shi.	More thundering surf... made me wonder how we would fare paddling out the next day.	The Wreckage of the USS General MC Meigs. (More about the ship and its history here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_General_M._C._Meigs_(AP-116))	In 1972 while under tow, the USS Meigs broke her tow in a storm, and ran aground, where she eventually broke up over the next 4 years, spilling 2.3 Million Gallons of Heavy Oil.
